Terminology: GAIN

‘Gain’ or ‘gaining’ is movement in the opposite direction to the direction of the rotation. (eg)  Forward travel in a backward rotating skill or Backward travel in a forward rotating skill.

An example would be landing forwards of the cross in a back landing, or landing behind the cross in a front landing.

Gain can be corrected by working on the position of the centre of mass at take off, gain is usually caused by the hips being pushed forwards or backward, rather than the hips being displaced upwards and forwards or  upwards and backwards.
