The Rig is installed in the supporting beams of a sports hall or gymnasium andOverhead Safety Rig & Tumbling Belt is used by the coach to support a performer learning advanced skills.  It is used with either a tumbling belt or twisting tumbling belt. The quality of the fittings on a Safety Rig are of the greatest importance as they are intended not only to support students as a teaching aid, but also to save life when a new skill goes wrong. The Overhead Rig system should only be operated by properly trained teachers and coaches.

Safety also matters at lower levels where the tie-off cleats on the wall must be fitted above head height and should ideally  incorporate a storage bag for the coiled rope when not in use.  Rope needs to be stored tidily to prevent twisting problems in the rig and to prevent people from tripping on ropes that have not been stored away. Ropes from rig systems are a serious tripping hazard  if not stored properly and when  the rig is being used.

Trampoline Central In-House Rig Training Module is available for schools, school sports partnerships and other organisations wishing to train staff in the use of the Safety Rig

Tumbling BeltGymnastics & Trampolining Tumbling Belt

Tumbling belts usually come in two sizes Medium or Large which are adjustable to fit different waist sizes. The tumbling belt should fit the pupil securely and comfortably.

If the pupil puts the belt on prior to their turn, the coach should ensure it has been done correctly prior to permitting the pupil to bounce.

Twisting Tumbling Belt

The twisting tumbling belt, or rig belt as they are often referred to is comfortable to wear and can even be used when performing simple skills such as front or back drops.

The inner belt is fixed to, but held away from the rotational unit with two separate zigzags of shock-cord for extra security.

Buying a Rig System

Rigs can be purchased in Kit form with the buyer being responsible for ensuring the kit is fitted by a specialist engineer.  Kits should be supplied with a free manual with fitting instructions which should be given to the engineer fitting the rig system. Trampoline central would advise buying a rig package which includes the rig and fitting.  The price of Rig systems are standard, however fitting prices vary depending on the venue. The fitting height and access to support beams may increase the cost of labour or equipment needed to fit the Overhead Safety Rig System which will aso have to be estimated and included in any quotation for Rig fitting.

Demountable Rig System

The Demountable Rig System is a slot-together steel framework which fits into the roller stand sockets in the side of the 77a school model trampoline and can fix on to both standard frames and those with extra wide safety coaching rails.

They are used in either outdoor situations or indoors where suitable roof fixings are not available. The only tool required is an Allen key  and all models break down into maximum lengths of 2.6m (8’6″) for storage and transportation.

It takes approximately twenty minutes to erect a demountable rig, and with the newer modern designs they are very stable. Quickly detaching two of the braces permits the end rails of the trampoline to be folded away between classes leaving the rig in place and the trampoline safe from unauthorised use.

Do I need an Over head Safety Rig?

No – Not if you are teaching single somersaults or barani’s (buy a hand held coaching belt instead priced around £6) Buy online

Yes – If you are trained to coach at this level and have either attended a rig training module, or were trained in the use of the rig during your coaching course and have pupils ready to progress on to advanced somersaults and/or complex twisting somersaults.  Please contact us to discuss your requirements.
